My beginnings in fashion and design start generations ago; my great grandfather had a clothing factory in the Dominican Republic and designed and manufactured all the military and government uniforms in the 1930's. Since then, the skill was passed to his children who passed it to their children and finally my mother to me. Some of my first and fondest memories are my mother and grandmother sewing and making clothes for me and my two sisters; now that I get to do it for my daughter the feeling of tradition has never felt stronger or more rewarding.
I've always had a passion for creating things with my hands, whether it was women's clothing, handbags, or even shredding t-shirts, but I never yearned to make anything like I have since I started making children's clothing. The real inspiration came when my husband and I welcomed our daughter, Sophia Cielo, to this world. When I saw her all I wanted to do was create, create, create. Then when I came across the idea of making dresses out of my husbands dress shirts, I knew I had stumbled on to something that every mother and father would want. So I give to the world Daddy's Little Dress Shirts. Handmade in Hoboken, no detail is ever missed.
